Welcome to the American Airlines 1939 Timetable. This timetable is a perfect fit for DC-3 Airways since essentially all of American Airlines' flights at that time were DC-2s or DC-3s. It was in 1939 when American Airlines President C. R. Smith noted that 90pct of all passengers on US Domestic flights were carried by DC-3s.

I've had this 1939 American Airlines timetable for several years but never could find the time to convert it into schedules for DCA. Fortunately, time became available to do that after turning DC-3 Airways over to the very capable hands of Ron Bushell.

SETUP

Unzip the contents of this zip file to a temporary directory. If you are using FSNavigator 4.5 or later, unzip aa_fsn.zip into:

	modules/fsnavigator/plan.

If you are using FSNavigator 3.x, unzip aa_fsn.zip into:

	modules/fsnavigator.

In both cases you will find the modules folder directly under your main flight simulator folder.

Double-click on the file 'timetable_maps.pdf' to view the route-maps for each of the twenty-one routes. These maps may help you decide which Route to select!

Double-click on 'american_airlines_sked.pdf' for flight information of each of the 244 legs. And remember, you can fly any route or leg in the reverse direction for credit, too. Just add the letter "R" to the end of the flight number when submitting your PIREP.

Although VORs were not available in 1939 they appear in many of the flight plans. NDBs, of course, are used profusely.

The Flight-Sim ATC feature is a natural for most of these flights. On the longer legs you may wish to buddy-up with someone else and fly using either Multiplayer or VATSIM.

Enjoy the flights and don't forget to use Real Weather to provide further realism.

One Final Note on the Route Maps Color Code. A solid-red bar indicates an American Airlines Flight. A White bar bordered with Red lines indicates a flight by "Other Airlines."
